My Culture

My culture would have to be described as a big mixture of multiple family backgrounds. My family is from all over the globe. I have family from Ireland, Germany, France, England and even Columbia. Which if you have a big family like I do then you will know that holidays like to get a little crazy because of all the many family traditions that we have. We have thanksgiving dinner with my father’s family in Orlando and then we have a family Christmas party at our house a week before Christmas. Then we have Christmas at home and then go down to Tampa and visit my great- grandmother. Since I am now getting married, I am adding a bigger side to my already family and I am excited to possibly start our own traditions with my soon to be husband. His family has traditions such as throwing huge family get togethers for birthdays and all throughout football season they get together to watch the game and they make all these delicious dishes that they make by hand that they learned from their family. They love to enjoy playing a multitude of games before the birthday celebration can begin. With my fiancé being in the military and not home as often as we would all wish, I enjoy going to see his family when I have time off from work and school just to catch up with everyone and talk about our wedding plans.

I love to read mystery novels as well as Sci-Fi novels and I enjoy any type of music that doesn’t involve rap that I can not understand. In my free time I enjoy spending time with friends and family doing the things that we love. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy like having to spend a lot of money just to do things together. We like to have game nights every so often and each time, someone different picks the game. We are not allowed to pick the same game twice in a row and no one can take two turns in the rotation. My fiancé and I enjoy having what we call “lazy days” where we choose either my family or his family to just spend the day with where we don’t go out and do anything fancy. We just hang out and watch tv, play games and catch up while talking about plans that we have for our careers and for our future. The one thing that I love doing with both my fiancé and my best friend is to go on small road trips where we like to go to neighboring cities and just explore them. Its kind of a spur of the moment thing that we like to do but its my favorite moments that I have with them. I have only traveled up and down the east coast and only as far north as New York and no farther south than Nassau Bahamas. I would love to travel across the country like my fiancé has and maybe once we are married then I will get plenty of chances to do that.
